Notes for Weedyverse

Welcome to Weedyverse. This is an alternate reality/universe/divergent timeline story (whichever one you want to use). The quickest way to understand the premise is to say that Ultimecia was killed by SeeD, traveled to the past, Edea inherited her powers, she and Cid planned for the next war—but it never happens. Their Gardens and their SeeD, in this reality, never get harvested because Ultimecia fails to return; the time loop breaks (which is probably breaking all sorts of ideas concerning loops and time travel, but let's not split hairs here). Invent something! Maybe Ultimecia got kind of sick of the old time loop thing and decided it would be way more fun to vacation in whatever future version of Balamb there is.

This is not a novelization, as it takes place from the perspective of Seifer and what might have happened to him had the threat of the sorceress from the future been removed. Because Ultimecia is soaking up rays on a beach (or another reason; be creative!) and not fiddling with the past through Edea, none of the events that cause Seifer to go on the exam mission that lead to his failure occur. I take great liberties with canon facts, places and persons, and use them for nefarious purposes, usually dealing with that subtext, bird farms, questionable uses of curative items, and various states of undress. Picture the Final Fantasy VIII universe; then forget everything that happened, because it doesn't happen here.

Welcome to another one of Renay's Cracked Out Ideas. Who the hell needs theme communities when I can cook up crazy stories on my own?!

A lot of people ask me why this arc is named Weedyverse, of all things. Well, last time someone asked I actually explained it a little better:

When I first had this idea, I thought about it and was like, "so what if the time loop didn't loop?" (because time loops confuse me). So if it didn't and the people in the past still prepared for the future (Ultimecia taking over Edea's body to wreck havoc), there'd be a whole lot of child killers sitting around with uh...pretty much nothing to do. Their whole purpose would be gone and therefore, they'd be hanging around in their Garden. Garden would keep training new SeeDs, and while the world still operated and used SeeD, their larger purpose would be lost and a lot of them would probably stagnant, as more and more SeeD came in and the sorceress threat never showed. So, uh. Weeds? Because most weeds are useless and just clutter up flower gardens. Hence, Weedyverse.
